The National Hotel, Oklahoma City
The National Hotel was originally built as the First National Bank in 1931. After the oil and gas crash in the 1980s, the building sat vacant for decades before eventually being restored and reopened as The National Hotel, now part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection.
Stepping into The National feels like stepping into another time period. Between the marble details, moody lighting, and historic architecture, the entire hotel feels grand while still somehow feeling welcoming at the same time.
The hotel is home to restaurants, bars, shopping, hotel rooms, and even apartments, making it feel almost like its own little world tucked inside downtown Oklahoma City.
One of our favorite parts of the stay was Stock & Bond, the hotel’s steakhouse located on the lower level. The food, presentation, and service were all incredible and easily one of the best meals we’ve had in Oklahoma City.
The hotel also has a few fun additions throughout the property, including a Lucchese store, Drybar, and a barber shop.
You can either head upstairs to The Great Hall or downstairs to The Vault — and both feel like completely different experiences.
Walking down the marble staircase into The Vault feels like discovering a hidden world underneath the hotel. It’s dark, moody, and exactly what you want a speakeasy to feel like. The bartenders were amazing and could make just about anything you asked for.
Upstairs, The Great Hall is stunning. The space feels elegant and lively without feeling stuffy, and the bar alone is worth stopping to see. Tellers, the restaurant located inside The Great Hall, serves breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner, along with themed tea events throughout the year. During our visit they were hosting a princess-themed tea, and during the holidays they transform it into a Harry Potter-themed experience.
Our room was beautiful, spacious, and comfortable after a long day exploring the city. We especially loved having a sitting area to unwind at the end of the night.
The National feels less like a hotel stay and more like an experience. Between the history, atmosphere, restaurants, and attention to detail, it’s easily one of the most unique places we’ve stayed — and definitely somewhere we’ll continue coming back to.
