The Ritz Carlton, Lake Tahoe

The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe was such a beautiful experience. I visited for a travel advisor conference and was thoroughly impressed from the moment I arrived.

Nestled within the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the resort feels both luxurious and welcoming. As we entered the lobby, a massive stone fireplace immediately caught my attention, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The check-in desk sits just opposite the fireplace, and we were welcomed with glasses of champagne while completing the check-in process. With luggage being delivered directly to our rooms, we had time to explore the lobby and soak in the mountain lodge ambiance before settling in.

Our room was equally impressive. Upon entering, the spacious bathroom sits to the right, complete with a large soaking tub, plush robes, and all the touches you’d expect from a Ritz-Carlton property. To the left is a generous closet with plenty of space for luggage and vacation outfits. A coffee station sits beside a cozy gas fireplace, while a comfortable sitting area creates the perfect spot to unwind after a day of exploring or attending conference sessions.

One of my favorite features of the room was the wall of windows overlooking the courtyard. The outdoor space is beautifully designed with fire pits, lounge seating, and heaters, making it enjoyable even during the cooler mornings and evenings that Lake Tahoe experiences in June. The courtyard is also home to an outdoor pool, hot tub, and casual bar and dining area. In the distance, you can see the ski lift that serves the resort during the winter months, a reminder that this destination is just as popular for skiing as it is for summer escapes.

Just inside from the courtyard is The Living Room Lodge, the resort’s casual dining venue and bar. The space stretches across much of the main floor and feels like an extension of the lobby itself. Comfortable seating areas surround another fireplace, creating a relaxed gathering place for guests. The bar overlooks the courtyard, making it an easy and enjoyable stop for lunch, cocktails, or an afternoon break.

One of my favorite daily rituals during our stay was visiting Café Blue each morning before heading out for a walk around the property. The crisp mountain air was a welcome change from the warm Oklahoma mornings I’m accustomed to. Most mornings called for a puffer jacket, a hot coffee, and a leisurely stroll before the day’s activities began.

The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe strikes a wonderful balance between luxury and comfort. While I visited with colleagues during the summer, I could easily see it serving as the perfect destination for a romantic couples getaway, a family vacation, or a winter ski retreat. No matter the season, it’s a resort that makes it easy to slow down and enjoy the beauty of the mountains.
